Year 3724, the month of Snowmoon. A watch quietly proves a drone is harmless.
Within a year, free cities must defend that quiet against an empire.

Snowmoon is a free, open novel by one of crypto’s best-known builders. The author released it under the GPL v3, so anyone can adapt it, as long as they keep their own pipeline open too.
The title is a month: the story opens on Snowmoon 3 of the year 3724. Over 32 chapters it follows ordinary people in Veridia, Dzego and the United Cities, where privacy-preserving tech is part of daily life, as the Arctic Empire’s drones press in.
Veridia steers itself with cryptography and collective funding. The Arctic Empire sends drones. Pick a side.
In Meldan, watches run zero-knowledge checks, Emerald runs locally on your own device, and a decentralized Order of Steering sets taxes and subsidies through Keepers and Sentinels.
Proof without exposure.

Pafogai Du’s chip workshops and underground shops. Sensors and anti-sensor foil on sale side by side. A strategy of growing roots, with no head to cut off.

Freetown is chaotic and cheap to govern, and home to the Freetown Economics Institute. Redshire, closer to the Arctic border, is the city that takes the threat most seriously.
Every chapter is named after a place and a date. Here are eight of them, each linked to the real text.

Verified, and nothing more.
Gladias, an Acolyte of the Order of Steering, walks through Kalimar. His watch confirms that a passing drone is only a toy, and learns nothing else about it.
